The Pillars of the Earth
One of the best books I've ever read is the Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follet. Is was written in 1989 and is satrical allegory about totalitarianism. It's one of the most famous books around the world and especially on the United Kingdom, and has been translated into many other languages.

The most important character is Jack Jackson a clever young architect and skilled stonemason trained by his stepfather Tom Builder. The people of the street have also importancy on the story, because they decided to start a revolution and take over the reign. There is always some characters like Ellen, a daughter of a knight and the mother of Jack. There were a lot of characters also on the empiric that they enter to the story and switch continuosly.

The best bit is the final part when the majority of the people went against the king. He is the leader of the hanging of the innocent on the first part of the movie. I was also very impressed with the characterisation of Jack Jackson, who is dependable, har-working, considerate and very intelligent. Another aspect that I liked very much is that it really makes you think.

The plot revolves around a building of a gothic cathedral in the fictional town of Kingsbridge. In the course of the story, there is a hanging of an innocent, and by the end of the story it ended with the humiliation of the king.

I enjoyed this story becaude, it is not a pleasant story to read, and is quite upsetting in places. However, I believe that it would like to anyone who likes to be challenged and made to think. I would recommendend this book obviously, because it have changed my way of thinking.
